Welch is the Most Isolated County in Appalachia! 🇺🇸

Check out my fully edited documentary filmed deep in the hollers of West Virginia now live on my main channel — Inside Appalachia’s Poorest Region in America! 🇺🇸 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbaABkhJqjg

Welch, West Virginia – Hidden deep within the Appalachian Mountains, this once-booming coal town now feels cut off from the rest of America. Surrounded by steep mountain roads, abandoned buildings, and the scars left behind by the collapse of the coal industry, Welch has become one of the most isolated communities in the state.

Years ago, thousands of miners and their families filled these streets with life. Today, much of that life has disappeared. Businesses sit empty, homes decay into the hillsides, and many young people have long since moved away searching for opportunity elsewhere. But for the people who remain, Welch is still home — a place built on pride, hardship, and survival.

In today’s video, I travel deep into southern West Virginia to explore the isolation of Welch firsthand. From forgotten neighborhoods and crumbling coal towns to the locals still fighting to keep their community alive, this is a side of Appalachia most people never see.
