On this drive through southern West Virginia, my son Tris Must List and I decided to take a detour through the small community of Odd, West Virginia, a place many people may recognize as the area connected to the well-known Whittaker family. We weren’t there to intrude or sensationalize—just to see the area for ourselves, take in the scenery, and better understand what this quiet part of Raleigh County is really like. Sometimes the most interesting stories are found on the backroads, and this drive gave us a chance to experience a place most people have only ever seen online.
